If you haven’t yet joined the whipped feta craze — welcome. This Hot Honey Whipped Feta is like an elevated cream cheese spread that manages to be creamy, tangy, salty, and just the right amount of sweet and spicy. It’s dangerously versatile — just as at home on a brunch board as it is next to a glass of wine. Whether you’re making it for a crowd or slathering it over toast for a solo breakfast, this recipe hits every craving.

The Ingredients

To make this dip, you only need a few simple, bold ingredients — each one pulling its weight for that perfect salty-sweet balance.

Feta Cheese

This is the backbone of the dip. Use block feta in brine if possible; it blends creamier and has a fresher, less crumbly texture than pre-crumbled feta.

Greek Yogurt

Adds tang and protein while lightening the richness of the cream cheese. Full-fat or 2% works best for a creamy finish.

Cream Cheese

This balances the saltiness of feta and gives that signature whipped, spreadable texture. Room temperature cream cheese blends easiest.

Hot Honey

The hero ingredient! It gives a sweet heat that ties everything together. I recommend Mike’s Hot Honey, but any brand (or homemade mix of honey + chili flakes) will do.

Olive Oil

A drizzle of good-quality extra virgin olive oil helps emulsify the mixture and adds depth.

Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

Optional, but highly encouraged — they add a final kick and a little visual flair.

The Method

I find an immersion blender works best for achieving that super-smooth whipped texture — less fuss, more control, and easier cleanup. But a regular blender or food processor will work just fine.

Start by blending the feta, Greek yogurt, cream cheese, and olive oil together. The mixture will look thick and crumbly at first — keep blending! After a minute or two, it transforms into a creamy, fluffy dip that’s basically feta clouds. Once smooth, transfer it to a shallow serving dish or a wide bowl.

Drizzle generously with hot honey, then use the tip of a toothpick or butter knife to gently swirl the honey through the feta for a marbled effect. Finish with a pinch of red pepper flakes for contrast and heat.

If you’re serving this at a party, make it a few hours ahead and chill — just let it sit out for 10–15 minutes before serving so it softens up again.

Pairings

This dip is ridiculously versatile. Try it with:

  • Warm pita, crostini, or sourdough toast

  • Crispy crackers or bagel chips

  • Fresh fruit like pear slices, figs, or grapes

  • Crudités — cucumbers, carrots, and bell peppers all pair beautifully

  • Or as a base for smoked salmon toasts (trust me, it’s next-level)

I recommend serving this dip over warm bread and topped with smoked salmon (try my Mango Hot-Honey Smoked Salmon), extra honey, and a pinch of chili pepper flakes.

  • 6 ounces crumbled feta
  • ½ cup plain greek yogurt
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1 slice sourdough bread toasted
  • 2 tablespoons whipped feta dip
  • 3 ounces smoked salmon
  • 1 drizzle hot honey

Instructions

  • Make Whipped Feta: In a blender or with an immersion blender, combine feta, Greek yogurt, cream cheese, and olive oil. Blend until smooth and fluffy, about 1–2 minutes
  • Finish and Serve: Spread the whipped feta mixture on a shallow plate. Drizzle with hot honey and sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes. Swirl decoratively if desired.
  • Pair with Toast (Optional): Spread 2 Tbsp whipped feta on toasted sourdough. Top with smoked salmon, drizzle more hot honey, and finish with extra red pepper flakes.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Friendly: Chill up to 3 days; bring to room temp before serving.
  • Customize the Heat: Add more (or less) crushed red pepper depending on your spice tolerance.
  • No Hot Honey? Mix regular honey with a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes for an easy substitute.
  • Serving Idea: Double the batch for a party platter or spread on sandwiches for an elevated twist.
