About Turned Around Table
And Creator Margot Searls
The food you put on your table can truly turn your lifestyle around for the better—hence Turned Around Table. What began as a love for cooking has grown into a passion project to share recipes with my family (and you!) when I’m not working as an auditor. Like any good auditor, I’m always looking for ways to learn, improve, and refine processes—even if it’s just the method or quality of food I’m feeding my family and friends.
The recipes you’ll find here range from healthy, balanced meals to indulgent comfort foods, family-friendly favorites, and plenty of spicy creations (because I’m definitely a spicy food girl!).  I’m not a nutritionist or dietitian (though I did take a few nutrition courses while earning my accounting degree at CSU—Go Rams!), but I am a firm believer that food should make you feel good and fit your lifestyle. Recipes here are designed to be crave-worthy, macro-friendly, and full of flavor and nutrients.
While I love simple, accessible dishes that anyone can pull together, I also enjoy diving into more complex recipes that use specialty ingredients or fun cooking gadgets—like smokers, griddles, and air fryers. I’m all about balance: sometimes that means starting from scratch, and other times it means embracing pre-made ingredients because, let’s be honest, there’s a reason they exist! If a dish calls for a specific ingredient or gadget, I’ll note it and always give you easy alternatives when I can.
When I’m not cooking or working, you’ll probably find me spending time with my husband, Alex (who’s an amazing cook too), and our sons, Brixton and Radner—or training for my next half, full, or even ultra-marathon. While this is primarily a food blog, you’ll also find bits of my life as a mom and runner—because food connects to all of it, from my gestational diabetes meal plans to what I eat when fueling for long runs.
Whatever brings you here, I hope these recipes from our table help inspire what’s on yours. It’s all about turning around recipes from our table to yours—food that fits real life and still feels special.
